A couple of days ago, we informed you about Paper Mario: The Origami King running on the Nintendo Switch emulators, Yuzu and Ryujinx. And today, we are happy to report that there is a 60fps mod for it, allowing the game to run with 60fps on the PC via the Nintendo Switch emulator Yuzu.

Paper Mario: The Origami King is a brand new Mario game that releases today on Nintendo Switch. In this game, players control a paper version of Mario in a 3D world. This world fuses other paper and three-dimensional constructs, including origami sculptures. Furthermore, players explore the game’s overworld to collect coins and items, encounter non-playable characters (NPCs), solve various puzzles based on the paper world concept, fight enemies.

Now while there is already a 60fps mod for it, there are still some slowdowns here and there. My guess is that the Yuzu team will be able to address them in the later versions of the emulator. Still, PC gamers can already enjoy Paper Mario: The Origami King at higher framerates. After all, the Nintendo Switch version is locked at 30fps.

Paper Mario: The Origami King is not the first game that is playable on the Nintendo Switch emulators at launch day. Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition was almost immediately playable on Yuzu. Additionally, Animal Crossing: New Horizons could also run on PC via Ryujinx just a few days after its official release.

A modder by the name of AlexByRuizZ has created an amazing mod for Paper Mario: The Origami King which puts Link into the Nintendo Switch game. From what we know, this mod works by way of modifying the game’s skin. The game has only been out for almost a month now and modders are already. A new paper-crafted Mario adventure unfolds on Nintendo Switch! The kingdom has been ravaged by an origami menace! Join Mario and his new partner, Olivia, as they battle evil Folded Soldiers, repair the damaged landscape, and try to free Princess Peach’s castle from the clutches of King Olly in this comedy-filled adventure, only on the Nintendo Switch™ system.

Below you can find a video, showcasing Paper Mario: The Origami King running on the PC with 60fps. Apart from some slowdowns during the combat sequences, the game appears to be running great on Yuzu.

Lastly, you can download the latest public version of Yuzu from here. You can also download the 60fps mod for Paper Mario: The Origami King from here.

Enjoy!

With Paper Mario: The Origami King officially out today and with a snazzy new gameplay trailer, fans have taken to Twitter to express their feelings regarding the franchise. More specifically, they are expressing their wishes to see past Paper Mario titles get re-released on the Switch.

Fans have seemingly banned together in attempt to get the older entries in the Paper Mario series released on Nintendo's newest console. Most are asking for the GameCube entry, The Thousand-Year Door, but some have also asked for the original Nintendo 64 game as well as the Wii game Super Paper Mario.

Around this time last year, The Thousand-Year Door started trending on Twitter thanks to a little blue gaming puppet called Arlo, a popular gaming YouTuber who created his own hashtag #RemasterThousandYearDoor. In his video last year, Arlo stated that Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door was his favorite Paper Mario title and one of his favorite games of all time, emphasizing how much he wanted it to be re-released for the hybrid console.

Just port Paper Mario, Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door and Super Paper Mario to the Switch. Trust me Nintendo.

If they don’t wanna make Paper Mario like the originals, why can’t they just remake them instead?
I mean we all want them and I’m sure they know we want them too... pic.twitter.com/r68k0mQhLV

But it appears that the game is trending yet again on Twitter, with this time it coming directly from the fans, without any popular muppet behind the scenes. Nearly all of the fans are saying the same thing: if Nintendo doesn't want to make new Paper Mario games that match the originals, then just re-release the old ones with a fresh coat of paint. And that's a valid point.

The Paper Mario franchise has been around for two decades, spawning six titles across six systems, never skipping a generation. It's established itself as one of Nintendo's mainstays in its gaming lineup, without more than five years between entries, which is more than one can say about many of Nintendo's other IPs. With that said, the franchise has seen very little in re-releases, with The Thousand-Year Door only available to play on the GameCube.

It remains to be seen whether TTYD or any of the other past games will be re-released, but one thing is clear: if they are ported over, there is an audience waiting to buy them. It's all in Nintendo's court now.
